First, I felt I should promote their use to help support the continuing development of these products. Second, I wanted to inform others that these fantastic programs are available. Free!

OpenOffice An office suite that includes Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Drawing, Database programs and more. It can read and write files which are compatable with Microsoft Office. It is similar to MS Office at ~$200+.	GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) Advanced photo editing and image creation. It is similar to Photoshop CS at~$600.
jEdit Professional quality text editor with syntax highlighting, unlimited undo, indent preservation, and much more. Called a "Programmers Editor".	Blender A powerful 3D modeling and image rendering software.
